Dental fillings especially over time "may" expand and create micro-cracks in the tooth. The question may be how to adequately restore or fix the tooth. In "some" instances a dental fillings would be appropriate. In many other cases... a dental crown is what would solve the issue. In a few instances a root canal or having the tooth extracted may be your only viable option.
In the above case "most likely" a dental filling will all that will be needed. However... it should be noted our Denver dentists will not know the extent of the fractue until they open up the case. The worst case scenerio is the fracture could go all the way to the nerve of the tooth or down the root surface. If this becomes the case the tooth most likey would be extracted. This IS a crack we see... but there are other microscopic crack that can be as significant.

How about crowning a damaged tooth? I heard that you can also hide bad teeth by replacing them with crowns and stuff.

Osseointegrated dental implants are the state of the art in modern dentistry. They are small titanium "fixtures" that take the place of the natural root of the tooth. Gently implanted into the bone, using local anesthesia, these very tiny titanium roots actually bond or integrate with a patient's bone, more securely than natural root would. Most often, the osseointegrated implant is more stable than a natural tooth's root. Upon these implants, we can build permanent teeth, custom designed and shaded to aesthetically suit each patient's distinctive facial requirements.
